North Zone faced Central Zone in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy match on Wednesday. Yuvraj Singh showed the magic of his amazing vintage flicking abilities by flicking three consecutive deliveries for maximums.
Earlier North Zone led by Harbhajan Singh won the toss and elected to ball putting Central Zone in to bat. Central Zone were rocked early by experienced North one attack and were left reeling at 40/3 in 7 overs. Then Naman Ojha and Mahesh Rawat partnered on the crease and got the score to 167 runs in 20 overs.
Dhawan and Gambhir started well for North Zone before they both were out in quick succession. Rishabh Pant smashed 3 fours and a six but he too was out before leaving any significant mark on the game.
With 52 required fro the last three overs, the match was all but lost.
Yuvraj Singh turned the clock back hitting three back to back sixes in the 18th over bringing the equation to 33 from 15. But he was outdone in the same over miscuing a pull, and the equation at 30 from 2.
Manpreet Gony, much of a hitter himself, hit two fours an two sixes but those weren’t enough to get the team over the line who eventually lost by 4 runs in the end.
