The IPL 2017 auction will take on place on Monday, 20th February. BCCI has released a list of total of 351 players who will go under the hammer. These players have been selected out of the 799 players who gave up their name for the auction.
7 players have been rated the highest at a base price of 2 crores. Ishant Sharma is the only Indian player to feature in the elite list alongside Englishmen Ben Stokes, Eoin Morgan, Chris Woakes, Australian Mitchell Johnson and Pat Cummins and the Sri Lankan Angelo Matthews.
122 International players have been shortlisted for the auction. The thing to notice this time is that 6 players from the associate nations have also been given the chance to try their luck in the Indian T20 League. Asghar Stanikzai, Mohammad Nabi, Mohammad Shahzad, Rashid Khan and Dawlat Zadran, all from Afghanistan, alongwith UAE’s Chirag Suri have been listed to go under the hammer. Shahzad and Rashid got the highest base price at 50 L INR. Mumbai Indians can surely use the services of a powerful opener as Mohammad Shahzad. Needless to say, the IPL can be a big platform for the players of the Associate Nations to go forward in the game.
